Mental Illness Awareness Week 2020 presents:
CHANGING THE CONVERSATION ABOUT DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE WORKSHOP
Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for adolescence and adults (Mental Health Commission of Canada, 2013). Many individuals do not feel comfortable asking for help due to the stigma associated with mental health concerns. Or individuals and their loved ones may be unfamiliar with the warning signs associated with depression and suicide ideation. Together, let’s change the conversation about depression and suicide, join us for an interactive presentation with the goal of spreading awareness and reducing stigma. Topics will include:
- Signs and symptoms of depression and suicide ideation
- Reducing stigma associated with depression and related mental health issues
- How family, friends and community can support a loved one/individuals with depression and/or suicide ideation
- The role of police and crisis response services
- And much more!
