Join us on September 4th at Rockin Recovery
During the month of September, Canadians in recovery from addiction join with friends and family to build awareness, challenge societal stigma, and celebrate the role that recovery plays in improving the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Recovery Day is brought to you by a collaboration between Thunder Bay Drug Strategy, the Drug Awareness Committee, Fort William First Nation, and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
CMHA is committed to supporting individual recovery and promoting wellness. Our vision is for an inclusive community where people are valued and opportunities are available to everyone. Through education initiatives, we work to build awareness of the challenges of mental health and addictions such as stigma and as well as the possibilities of recovery.
Join us and our partners in celebrating the recovery stories of those in our community and hope to inspire others to seek help and enhance their emotional and physical well being!
Recovery Day is about celebrating the path of recovery and recognising it is different for all people. At Rockin’ Recovery, we will have live entertainment from Greenbank and JC Wilkinson. The event will open with the Matawa Education & Care Centre Drum, and words from an Elder. There will be 6 individuals who are going to share their Recovery Story – this is the reason for the event….bring the community together to celebrate recovery. There will be information booths, vendors and food, as well as activities for kids and the whole family (bouncy castle, face painting, rock painting, photo booth). Hope to see you all come out!!
